Glenray Industries, a long standing Australian Disability Enterprise in Bathurst, has recently employed 12 young people in the Glenray Laundry Bathurst, providing opportunities for the youth of Bathurst to engage in meaningful work and gain work skills for the future.
With youth unemployment rising to 15.6% this last quarter*, Glenray is proud to be supporting and training young people in Bathurst, helping them achieve their goals and full potential.
The Laundry has seen a significant increase in production due to people ‘holidaying at home’ and an increase in accommodation occupancy rates, this has resulted in Glenray Laundry needing to increase staff to keep up with demand.
The upturn in local tourism over the summer holiday period is anticipated to continue and to accommodate the extra production requirements at a time when our supported employees are taking leave, we have employed 12 junior & 3 senior staff to work alongside our dedicated supported employees over this busy period, providing youth with opportunities to learn new workplace skills, and also promote inclusion and accessibility as they work alongside people with a disability.
Glenray also continues to grow the connections with our local schools and have employed 4 new school leavers from Bathurst High school and Carrene School, as supported employees in the Laundry, they are learning new skills and are fast becoming an integral part of the Glenray team.
