During our 60th year Anniversary event, Glenray was proud to introduce a new ambassador to our organisation, Janelle Lindsay OAM.
Janelle is an Olympic Gold Medal winning cyclist who overcame a near death experience to achieve the pinnacle of success in her chosen discipline.
Teaming up with visually impaired rider Lindy Hou OAM, Janelle was a pilot of a tandem who represented Australia at the Athens 2004 Paralympics. Janelle and Lindy won the Gold Medal in the Women’s Tandem Sprint , a Bronze in the 1000m Time Trail and broke the World Record for the 200m Fly in the Sprint qualifying rounds.
Janelle was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in recognition for services to sport as a Gold Medallist at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. This was achieved against all odds. In 2003 Janelle was hit by a car when out training, which left her with a broken back, pelvis, hip, & shoulder . Doctors told her she may not walk again. Despite the negative prognosis, Janelle never gave up her dream winning a Gold Medal.
Janelle states “I’m so proud to be the ambassador for Glenray. As a business it shows what you can do when you are focused on people’s abilities rather than their disability. This is a company that takes care of its employees and I can’t wait to share with the local community and further abroad how important, empowering and dynamic Glenray is.”
A successful international career in Strength and Conditioning Coaching, Personal Training, Pilates Instruction and Nutrition coaching means that she can impart her knowledge, passion, attitude and experience to those around her.
