What is the NDIS? National Disability Insurance Scheme
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. The NDIS allows you greater choice over how you access your support.
The NDIS aims to deliver life-long, individualised support to Australians living with disability and as we move forward, you’re in control.
When is the NDIS available?
The NDIS began in a number of trial sites around Australia from July 2013.
In July 2017 the NDIS will be rolled out into the Western NSW region, which includes Bathurst, Blayney, Orange and Mudgee.
How do I access the NDIS?
If you already receive disability support through the NSW Government, you, your family or carer will be contacted by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) by letter or by phone to confirm your eligibility to access the NDIS. Nothing will change with your current supports while you go through this process.
