Glenray building new homes for people living with Disability

Stage 4 of Glenray’s supported living homes at Glenray Village in Kelso have begun construction.

The new home will be purpose built, by Hines Constructions to provide accessibility throughout the home for people of all abilities. Features will include all rooms on one level, widened doorways and passageways, accessible bathrooms & showers able to accommodate wheelchair maneuverability, spacious bedrooms with low sill windows and and wheelchair accessible handles and light switches.

These new homes will provide people living with a disability the opportunity to live independently while having access to support from staff where needed. This type of support is available to anyone with NDIS funding from 18 years and can help to improve the quality of life for the individual by building skills, providing an environment to make new friends, and improving confidence through increased independence.

Glenray village itself sits in a prime location atop the hill overlooking Bathurst with stunning views back towards Mt Panorama and provides a unique village atmosphere with gardens, sport and BBQ facilities and a community hall available to residents.

As a not for profit business all funds are invested back into projects in the community to support people living with a disability. This project to eventually build 4 new fit for purpose group homes aims to provide the people of Bathurst support to live independently.

‘We are excited to now be in position to start building the new home’ states Glenray General Manager, Kath Graham. Glenray strives to include the community, and as a part of this project we will be supporting local businesses, contractors and suppliers where possible, and when completed the homes will provide additional job opportunities in Disability Support.
