‘Glenray Commitment Scholarship’ supporting people living with disability to gain a university degree

Announcing the ‘Glenray Commitment Scholarship’ supporting people living with disability to gain a university degree

As part of their ongoing commitment to supporting people living with disability, Glenray has created the Glenray Commitment Scholarship to support Students with disability to achieve their goals and obtain a degree.

In partnership with Charles Sturt University the scholarship will offer an eligible student $7500 per year, to help cover the costs of studying and ease the pressure of some of the unique costs a person with disability may incur in accessing tertiary study.
There has been a significant increase in recent years in students with a disability attending tertiary education, and this scholarship is aimed to help these students succeed in their studies and reduce the financial pressure involved in gaining a degree.
Glenray’s mission is to create opportunities to enhance the independence of people living with disability.

Glenray General Manager, Kath Graham said Glenray aims to support people of all abilities and this scholarship is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community and support social inclusion.

“We are focused on helping people with a disability achieve their goals and improve their opportunities for a prosperous career in the future,” she said.
With 1 in 5 Australians currently living with a disability, and up to half of school age people with a disability wanting to go on to university there is an opportunity to further support people and provide better access to tertiary education and inclusion for all at university.
Glenray, is a not for profit organisation and has been committed to enhancing the lives of people living with disability for over 60 years.
The local organisation continues to provide new opportunities for people living with disability in the community to live the life they choose, this support has now been extended to those wanting to access a university degree.

Charles Sturt University Director Advancement, Sarah Ansell thanked Glenray for their commitment in helping make education accessible to regional students.
“We are delighted to welcome Glenray to our scholarship program, the demand for this years’ scholarship is high, evidence of just how important their support is,” Ms Ansell said.
This year’s scholarship recipient will be announced in the coming months, with the next round of applications opening for 2024 Scholarship later this year. For further information visit CSU scholarships or contact us.
